Jewelry Care

Tender Love & Care for your Sami Slade Pieces

Stainless Steel, Gold and Silver Plated

The majority of our pieces are made from Stainless Steel. (It will be indicated on the product page) Stainless style is the idea material base for plated jewelry as it is durable and resistant to tarnish and rust.

When wearing a stainless steel jewelry piece, you can go through most of your daily activities without worrying about causing damage to your jewelry. However, that being said, there are some things you need to ensure you take care of to keep your beautiful pieces looking brand new!

Take off your jewelry before sleeping, showering, cleaning, applying perfume or exercising. This will help to prevent it from oxidization. Always put your perfume/creams on & allow them to dry completely before putting your jewelry on! Keep your plated jewelry out of the water and away from moisture. Although often we find pieces will last very well when they are exposed to moisture, this is no guarantee and it is better to avoid doing so to extend the life of your jewelry.

Store your new pieces in a cool, dry place.

In the event your jewelry is exposed to water, humidity, or dirt, we recommend you clean it with a soft microfiber cloth.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your jewelry will stay in great condition!

 Waterproof

If you have selected our Waterproof jewelry, amazing choice! You will treasure it for some time to come! These pieces are made with an extra PVD coating that makes them more resistant to corrosion from water and moisture then standard gold plated jewelry.

It's a great choice for people who are sometimes lazy or forgetful (like us) and sometimes forget or don't want to remove their jewelry, as it is extra durable!

However, please note, it is not intended to be exposed to any chemicals. You need to still take extra care to not wear it in any chemically treated pools/hot tubs etc as it can react and start to tarnish earlier than it would with normal wear. We recommend continuing to prevent it being directly exposed to perfumes/lotions to prolong it's life.

 Alloy

While most of our pieces are made with Stainless Steel for all the right reasons and every piece we sell is lead and nickel free, some products can only be sourced with other materials, including alloy. Common alloys include brass and zinc.

In order to prolong the life of your alloy based pieces - wipe your alloy jewelry clean with a soft cloth after each wear. Another great option is using a dedicated metal polishing cloth. Metal cleaning cloths contain a polishing agent that will effectively remove small amounts of tarnishing. However, it is important to keep it dry at all times and it will, over time, show more tarnish than stainless steel jewelry.

Individual PH Balance in Skin

Some individuals have a high level of acidic pH level in the body that is manifested through their skin, causing specific reactions with any material that comes in direct contact with it, such as jewelry. Although most individuals will not notice any issues with our jewelry tarnishing, those who have unusually high acidic pH levels may notice that this over time causes their jewelry to tarnish sooner than the average consumer. This is in no way a defect of the jewelry.
